encodevideos.com is a free service from EdProgress, a small business making clean utilities for educators and creators.
How it works
The encoder runs entirely in your browser, using ffmpeg compiled to WebAssembly. Your file never leaves your computer — see the Privacy page for the full story.
We host the static site on a single VPS, run our own infrastructure, and don’t rely on any third-party platform that could see your files. That’s what makes the privacy story we tell on the home page actually true: no upstream provider in the path means no upstream provider holding a copy of your video.
Free, and staying free
There’s no account, no quota, no card on file. EdProgress sponsors the hosting cost and the development time so it can be a public utility.
If a paid tier ever ships, the free experience won’t get worse — Pro will be about server-side encoding for very large files and batch jobs, not about gating features behind a paywall.
